About Us

Hopefully you know us. Right, you're reading our blog?
But if you want a refresher course, here ya go:

Travis and Chrissy met at UT in Austin in 2000, courtesy of Chrissy's friend who was in Calc 408C with Travis. After dating, breaking up, and becoming friends again, we started dating more seriously in 2001. We enjoyed the heck out of Austin, traveled to Washington, road-tripped and camped in Colorado, and even learned TaeKwonDo together.

Travis graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in December 2002 and moved back to Houston to start work at Bechtel. The following summer, Chrissy graduated with a BS in Microbiology and headed to Galveston to start graduate work at UTMB in Cell Biology. After a year-and-a-half living in different cities, we tied the knot in August 2004.

Our big honeymoon was an awesome trip to Alaska, where we road-tripped from the glaciers and fjords of the Seward coast to spectacular wildlife and mountains of Denali National Park.

We spent a year in Clear Lake, Tx splitting the difference between the Galleria in Houston and UTMB in Galveston before Chrissy transferred to UT Health Science Center in Houston to work at MD Anderson and finish her PhD in Cancer Biology. We bought our house in the city and shortened our commutes from 1 hour to 10 minutes. Woohoo! Then we got to bring home our first baby, Zoe, from CockerKids rescue group in February 2005.

Life was great and we hung around as a pack of 3 for 4 years. Lots of work, school, and camping. We even ran a half marathon together! Then in February 2009, things started changing! We found out we were expecting a baby- not the furry kind, but the human kind! Of course we were excited, but Chrissy still had a lot of school work to finish and now the clock was ticking. Then, not 1 week later (on Valentine's Day), pack members 5 and 6 found us while we were walking down the road in Beeville. The two sweetest, happiest, and sickest dogs you ever met popped out of their culvert to say "Hi!"

Being the hopeless softies we are, we loaded them up and drove them back to the vet in Houston. Many months and many medications later, they were healthy again. At that point, the idea of growing our pack from 3 to 6 was daunting and the pups were up for adoption. After 6 months of adoption days and an ever growing baby belly, we were surprisingly distraught when they were adopted. Our depression was short-lived- they were returned to us less than 2 weeks later- which was then less than 2 weeks before Baby P was due to arrive! Chrissy finally finished all her lab experiments on Baby's due date, and then.....
Little baby Sierra Elizabeth was born on October 23, 2009. A healthy, beautiful 7 pounds, 1 ounces of pure joy and happiness!! Of course, everyone was thrilled to meet the newest addition to our family. As we settled in to our new life as parents, Chrissy started writing her dissertation, and our two fur-fosters became full-fledged members of our pack- Izzy and Moe Pichot! In May 2010, Chrissy finally finished graduate school, earning a PhD in Cancer Biology! That's right... Dr. Chrissy. Look out.

And that's how we made it to 6!  We've had a ton of fun growing from those 2 college kids goofing around in Austin to ring leaders of our own little circus. It's never quiet, never dull and we love it!!
